Achievement and Effects

Located in an active new orogenic belt, the vigorous geologic processes happening in Taiwan will serve as excellent dynamic global model in geosciences studies.

During the first stage of the project the Geosciences Department completed fundamental digitization of the representative rock specimens with distinctive characteristics in archived collection with establishment of a relevant fundamental data bank.

The second stage will emphasize presentation of the variegated stratigraphic and geomorphologic expressions of Taiwan. The exhibition will be reinforced with new additional field collections of rocks, and through new media formats, to achieve revelation of all the fine details of the unique characteristics of Taiwan geology.

Supplemented by geologic history and manuscripts of geoscientists the results as mentioned above will be the framework for establishing a data bank on Taiwan geologic history and “Who-is-Who in Taiwan Geology” which will be the most prominent data bank on the history of geology and information on Taiwan rocks.
